New Lives
At Parkview Baptist Church, our members are...
- MADE
...to have a right relationship with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are professing believers that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and have been made new in Him. - MARKED
...as believers by our public testimony in the waters of baptism. We have followed our Lord's example in baptism by immersion--not as a means of salvation, but as a mark of the salvation Jesus purchased for us by His death, burial and resurrection. - MATURING
...as disciples by becoming more and more like Jesus every day. We grow by living life together, learning the Bible together, worshiping Jesus together and serving people together. - MULTIPLYING
...disciple-making disciples. We are not satisfied with simply adding to our congregation. Instead, we are called to make disciples of Jesus who will in turn make disciples of Jesus. We believe in multiplication rather than addition.
Bringing
At Parkview Baptist Church, our joy is to bring people to Jesus--it's not their responsibility to come on their own. Because of that, we are...
- INCARNATIONAL
Jesus is God incarnate, which means that He came in the flesh to dwell among us. He has sent us out in the same way. We are not satisfied to sit back in our church building and call out for people to come to us. We go to them--in the community, in the schools, in the workplaces. We are bringing people to Jesus as we live life with them. - MISSIONAL
It's not our desire to build the biggest and best attraction in town. We want to do things well, but our productions aren't what will attract people to Jesus. We are attracting people to Jesus the same way He did--by eating and crying and laughing and living with them. We live our lives on mission.
New Life
At Parkview Baptist Church, the New Life we bring is new life in Christ. The good news of Jesus promises...
- SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION
The Bible says that apart from Christ, we are enemies of God. Trusting Jesus as Lord changes all that. We are no longer our Creator's enemies. We are His adopted sons and daughters. He creates a new spirit within us--a spirit that is pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, merciful and sincere. - PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION
Trusting Jesus as Lord doesn't mean all of the difficult circumstances of life disappear. What it means is we have someone who we can trust every circumstance to. A relationship with Jesus transforms marriages, parenting, personal relationships, work life and home life. A personal encounter with Jesus is completely life-changing. - COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION
When Jesus transforms the lives of people, those people will begin to transform the communities where they live, work and play. The answer for urban blight, crime, social injustice and chemical dependence is new life in Christ.
Our Neighbors and the Nations
At Parkview Baptist Church, the good news of new life in Christ isn't just for us--it is for all people everywhere. It's our joy to bring it with us everywhere we go.
- LOCAL COMMUNITY
We want to be a church that loves our community. We want to serve our town government, our police department, our first responders, our schools and our neighbors. If we were to disappear, we want our community to not only notice, we would want them to miss us. - LARGER REGION
Our larger region includes both southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. We partner with other churches and ministries to impact our region both materially and spiritually. - PEOPLE DIFFERENT FROM US
We look forward to the day when people of every tribe, tongue and nation will be gathered around the throne praising King Jesus. Although that will happen one day, we don't want to wait because we are called to create glimpses of that now. In our church, we desire to reflect the racial and ethnic diversity of our community. Outside our church, we form ongoing relationships with other churches and ministries to minister to all people. - THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
We cooperate with over 40,000 Southern Baptist Churches worldwide to ensure that every person around the world has an opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. We don't just support global missions with our prayers and finances, we want to regularly send short-term mission teams around the world.
