Starting September 16th, 2021, Pastor Jim will be offering Southern Baptist Seminary Extension classes at Parkview on Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:00 for all who are interested. These are 10-week long academic classes with reading, tests, and assigned writing assignments.
The intent is to teach six core classes over a two-year span. When coupled with further independent study, the core classes can lead to Seminary Extension certificates or diplomas.
The first class we will offer is:
Title: BB3100—HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE
Course Overview: An introduction to the doctrinal, historical, and literary nature of the Bible and other general questions involved in reading the Bible with understanding. The course also deals with the authority, purpose, and message of the Bible; the history reflected in the Old Testament; and principles of biblical interpretation.
Textbook: 40 Questions About Interpreting the Bible, by Robert L. Plummer
Course Cost (including all fees, books, and materials): $190.99. This is ONLY the cost charged by Seminary Extension. None of the money goes to Parkview Baptist Church or Pastor Jim.
Course Duration: September 16 – November 18
Although many institutions accept credits earned through Seminary Extension, no institution is required to do so. Historically, all SBC Colleges and Seminaries have accepted SE transfer credit toward their degree programs, as well as many other institutions.
Please contact Pastor Jim if you are interested.
